MISSION SUSTAINABLE ENERGY

A SUSTAINABLE ENERGY SYSTEM

In our pursuit of a sustainable future, the development of an efficient and responsible energy system is crucial. This system must not only meet our energy needs but also address urgent challenges such as climate change, the protection of nature and the environment, and the recycling of resources.

In our quest for a sustainable future, the development of an efficient and responsible energy system is essential. This system must not only meet our energy needs, but also address pressing challenges such as climate change, protecting nature and the environment, and reusing resources.

With the Climate Act of 2020, a united Parliament decided that Denmark must be a climate-neutral society by 2050. This requires a fundamental restructuring of our energy system, freeing us from fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas and ensuring sufficient renewable energy production to cover our consumption while avoiding unnecessary strain on the environment and overconsumption of the earth's resources.

Climate

The sustainable energy system of the future must have a much smaller climate footprint than we have today where we are largely dependent on fossil fuels. Electrification of various sectors such as transport and industry as well as investment in sustainable energy sources such as solar and wind are central to the work to reduce our CO2 emissions. In addition, achieving our goal of a fossil-free energy system by 2045 requires significant expansion of the electricity grid as well as infrastructure for CO2 capture and storage.

Nature and environment

In the sustainable energy system of the future, consideration for our natural surroundings is crucial. We are faced with the challenge of finding suitable areas for energy production, both on land and at sea. A large part of our energy supply must come from solar and wind farms, but it is essential to choose locations carefully to avoid damage to the environment and to protect biodiversity. Through careful planning and sustainable practices, we can ensure that our energy production is done in a way that respects and conserves our natural resources.

Circular economy

In a sustainable future, we face the challenge of conserving and reusing our scarce resources responsibly. With a growing global population and an ever-increasing strain on the earth's resources, it is necessary to reassess our approach to the energy system. This also applies to our energy production where we must ensure that we do not overconsume and deplete natural resources. Therefore, integrating circular economy principles into our energy systems is essential to minimize our environmental footprint and ensure sustainability. By ensuring that materials are used efficiently and kept in circulation for as long as possible, we can reduce our reliance on new resources and minimize our impact on the planet.
